The purpose of the group is to:

  • Assist youth to learn more about independent living
  • Provide opportunity to communicate with youth already on their own
  • To explore community resources and social networks
  • Provide a safe place to learn life skills including budgeting, safe food handling, landlord and tenant issues and cooking/shopping for one
  • Give youth a place to be themselves and express what is on their mind

Criteria/Selection Process

  • Youth must be willing to make a commitment to attend each week and be on time
  • 16 to 21 year old males and females
  • Being in the group is voluntary
